An emerald cut is a step cut, unlike most other diamond shapes which are brilliant cuts. This man-made diamond cut has 57 small rectangular facets that resemble stairs or steps. These emerald shapes are more popular and prominent in rectangular shapes, but they are also available in squares. At the same carat weight an emerald cut lab engineered diamond appears bigger than other shaped diamonds. The corners of these emerald shaped diamonds are usually cropped to prevent fractures and add more stability.
