Lab-Created Diamonds
Lab-created diamonds are also popularly known as engineered or cultured diamonds. They are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced techniques. They duplicate the conditions that are found inside the Earth’s surface.
They use advanced diamond-growing technology — either extreme pressure and heat or a unique deposition process that is identical to the natural method of diamond formation inside the earth’s surface. Lab-grown diamonds are formed when small amounts of specific traces of elements are present during the growth phase of the diamond, similar to what happens in nature. They possess the same cut, clarity, and colour as mined diamonds. They don’t have any ethical issues. Mined diamonds are also called blood diamonds, as they are harmful to the environment. Lab-created diamonds are now readily available in a variety of grades. Lab-made diamonds are also available in fancy colours that are thought to be very rare in nature. In our diamond-growing greenhouses, we are using the CVD process (chemical vapour deposition) as well as the HPHT process (high-pressure high temperature). Both of these diamond processes start with a diamond seed and create the same environment within their individual reactors that exist below the earth to grow beautiful gem-quality lab-grown diamonds.
Man-made diamonds have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. At the same time, stimulants don’t have similar chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. Stimulants are sold at much lower prices than Lab-grown diamonds. Lab-created diamonds are ethically grown in the laboratory without harming the environment.
Lab-Created Diamonds vs. Stimulants:
There is a lot of difference between lab-created diamonds and simulants. Lab-created diamonds are man-made diamonds that have actual carbon atoms arranged in a specific diamond crystal structure. Diamond stimulants like cubic zirconia and moissanite are similar to diamonds but are not true diamond crystals. Natural moissanite is extremely rare, so the moissanite that is available nowadays is laboratory-created. After many years of testing, the particles Moissan discovered were successfully synthesized to produce these rare stones.
